eSIM Price Index 2026: Every Country Ranked by Cost
The same ruler, 50 times. For every destination we track, this index takes the cheapest per-gigabyte rate across all providers and ranks the countries against each other — the cheapest places to buy eSIM data, and the most expensive.
Where you travel changes what data costs more than which provider you pick. The index below ranks all 50 destinations in our database by their cheapest per-gigabyte rate — the single number that best captures how expensive a country is to stay connected in. The cheapest and priciest countries differ by several times per gigabyte, and the pattern is regional: read the full table below or start with the extremes.

The full index
The full league table of eSIM prices by country
“Best $/GB” is the cheapest per-gigabyte rate any provider offers there — usually a large bucket, not the entry plan. Every country and every winning plan is a link: the country name opens the full provider table, the plan opens that provider's plans for the country.
Method: for each country, the minimum of price÷GB over every metered plan from every provider, from the same dated snapshot. Unlimited (per-day) plans are excluded from the $/GB column but counted in their own column — see which countries have the cheapest unlimited eSIMs. Full rules in the methodology.

What the price spread means for your trip
5.5×
Cheapest vs priciest country
The same gigabyte costs 5.5 times more in Kenya than in France ($0.30/GB vs $1.65/GB). Destination choice moves the price far more than provider choice does.
33 GB
What $10 buys at the extremes
$10 buys about 33 GB of budget data in France — but only 6.1 GB in Kenya. In expensive markets a short validity small bucket, not a big one, is usually the sane buy.
2.5×
The regional gap
Europe averages $0.44/GB — 2.5× cheaper than Africa & Middle East at $1.09/GB. Multi-country trips through a cheap region can safely buy bigger buckets; check the region card below for its own league.

FAQ
What should you know about eSIM prices by country
Which country has the cheapest eSIM data per GB?
France leads our index at $0.30 per GB — the cheapest metered rate any provider posts there, on the 240GB / 365 Days plan from Ubigi. Italy is next at $0.32 per GB. Both rates come from large buckets; entry-plan prices are on each country's page.
Which country is the most expensive for eSIM data?
Kenya sits last at $1.65 per GB — roughly 5.5 times the cheapest market. Expensive markets are usually small or island destinations with little network competition; a short-validity small bucket, compared on the country page, is normally the better buy there.
Which region has the cheapest eSIM prices?
Europe averages $0.44 per GB across the 18 countries we track there — the cheapest region by a wide margin (2.5× cheaper than Africa & Middle East at $1.09). If your trip stays inside a cheap region, bigger data buckets are usually safe value.
Is the cheapest country for $/GB also the cheapest for a small plan?
No — the two rankings differ. Best $/GB rewards large buckets, so it favors heavy users on longer trips. For a 1-3 GB city-break plan, sort your country's table by total price instead: every country page lists entry prices from every provider side by side.
